Dublin Hammers Trip - Tottenham - Saturday 24th November 2001

West Ham 0 vs Tottenham 1.

We departed on time! Just a quick word of warning, security at the airport has been "stepped up" significantly since September 11th. I.D. is needed in future as some of the lads had not bothered bringing any.

The flight departed at 10.30am, so we were on a tight schedule as we had to check into our hotel, then get up to the ground to present Micheal Carrick with his Dublin Hammers of the Year 2000 Award. Myself, Charlie O'Reilly and Josh Holland were to do the presentation. A quick 'Thank You' to Adrienne Williams for her help in organising the presentation. It was very disappointing to see that Micheal was injured and unable to play against Spurs. For his part, he was very humble and the complete gentleman upon accepting his award! (see "Hammer of the Year" on our galleries page).

After the presentation we made our way into the new West Stand. It is massive, but too far away from the pitch at the moment which takes away from the atmosphere. Hopefully the atmosphere will return when the pitch has been moved and the rest of the ground re-development is completed.

While we were waiting in the reception area, we met the great man himself... Paulo di Canio! He posed for photographs to our delight! As for the match... we were awful! Spurs deserved to win!

Many thanks to Wayne Murphy (a cockney we met in Dublin), who had a pint with us in "The Duke of Edinburgh" after the match. Despite the result, a good night was had by all that night. We had an even better Sunday morning/afternoon before departing back to Dublin! Here's to the next trip!

Thanks to Liam for taking the time and trouble to get this report in!
