Dublin Hammers - Christmas Party 2019
The Christmas Party - 14th December 2019
Christmas is a traditional time of year where we all generally do exactly as we did in previous years... meet old friends for drinks, turn up and make a show of ourselves at the work Christmas party... claim we really love the jumper we got as a present and eat far too much turkey!
The Dublin Hammers Christmas Party is no different as we follow the same traditions of previous years... persuade our better halves to join us claiming it will be great fun to hear Liam give out about the raffle prizes and how long it takes the winners to pick something... “it’s only auld shite from Lidl or Aldi” – our Liam missed his calling as a Sales Rep!

Or how about waiting patiently to see which DH won the Free Trip Draw... and congratulations this year go to Brain Madden (well deserved Brian) or the grub that is hoovered up as soon as it arrives...

Or the karaoke that sees some of our members show off the wonderful vocal talents that they are... Brian Madden and Brian O’Flaherty who give new meaning to the words crooner! Tommy Noctor who opted for a new song (not getting a lot of home votes on that one Tommy!), Liam with Billy (followed by the floor sweeping as members showered him with paper napkins as he sang the immortal words "I heard she threw the letter away"), Paul with a Sex Pistols revival, the First Lady and her favourite classic, Dessie and the Beatles, Bad News and Lady Sandra with Don’t Ya Want Me and of course Fran and Human!

Now this always leads to the dancing where young, old and older strut their stuff and roll back the years (decades in most cases) to show off their moves. Thankfully this year there was no requirement for the St Johns Ambulance to attend.
But sometimes the highlight of the evening is the President’s Address and once again our Fran did not disappoint as he eloquently spoke of how he was happy to continue in his role... since all other contenders were unable to gather the requisite number of votes to turf him out. He did have a sting in his speech as he questioned the Club Secretary’s (or Owner) attitude towards the game on the TV that evening – I can see some fun at the next AGM!!

And last, but by means last, all gathered on the dance floor for a rousing rendition of Bubbles!
A fantastic night as ever and everyone had a really great time (including our two new Brazilian members!).
