Dublin Hammers Trip - Manchester City - Saturday 21st September 2002

West Ham 0 vs Manchester City 0.

5:30, yes the middle of the night! 13 of us met in Dublin airport for our short flight to London Heathrow. After 45 minutes on the tube, we arrived at 'Angel' station (Gooner territory). From there it was a short walk to Jurys Hotel, Islington, where we left our bags and headed off to the ground. What a sight to greet us - the new Upton Park we had only seen in the UPN(?). We headed to the new West Ham Superstore, quite a difference to the old portacabin we were used to!

After cleaning out the shop we made our way to the 'Queens' for lunch and some light refreshment. At 1.30pm by the edge of the pitch, Eddie and Brian presented Sebastian Schemmel with the Dublin Hammer of the Year 01/02 award (Thanks to Charlie and Adrienne). See dhammers galleries for photos!

At 2.30pm we took our seats in the lower tier of the Dr Martens stand, approx. 30 feet from the pitch. Boy what a view! Pity the match did not live up to its billing - a dower nil nil draw. Finally the ref put us out of our misery, while a section of the crowd booed the players off the pitch!

After the match we regrouped in the 'White Heart' for a little more light refreshment before slowly heading back to the hotel. We relaxed and had a quick shower before meeting up again in the hotel bar for 9pm. Little did we know it would turn into the best comedy bar in North london!

Sunday morning we met for breakfast, after which we went our separeate ways until we all arived back at Heathrow at 8pm for the flight home. It was some weekend!
